AKG / AAKG

AKG / AAKG (alpha-ketoglutarate) is the nitrogen-free portion of the amino acids known as glutamine and glutamic acid. It is formed in the Krebs cycle, the energy-producing process that occurs in most body cells. AKG is used by cells during growth and in healing from injuries and other wounds and is especially important in the healing of muscle tissue. Arginine Alpha Ketoglutarate, often referred to as AAKG, is comprised of the amino acid Arginine bound to an Alpha-Ketoglutarate molecule. Arginine is a precursor to Nitric Oxide production, which makes it a popular component of many pre-workout formulas. Arginine is naturally occurring in the diet, and can be found in dairy products, chicken and fish. Binding Arginine to Alpha Ketoglutarate enhances the absorption of Arginine.
